The fourteenth annual conference for patient safety in Catalonia will take place on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. On this occasion, taking advantage of 15 years of hemovigilance in Catalonia, the day will focus on transfusion safety.
Hemovigilance is a system that allows us to detect, record and analyze, in a complete, rigorous and objective way, the adverse effects and incidents that occur during blood donation and transfusion (blood extraction, processing, verification, storage, distribution and blood and component transfusion).
The event, which will take place in the auditorium of the teaching pavilion of the Hospital Vall d’Hebron, will mention the risks and corrective and preventive measures over the last 15 years, and more specific issues like the pulmonary complications of a transfusion, tools to prevent transfusion errors, and the role of nursing in safety during blood transfusion, with speakers of recognized prestige such as Eduard Muñiz, Jordi Vila, Mercè López and David Gómez, among others. The day will be concluded by the contribution of Guila Fidel, a clinical psychologist who is an expert in catastrophes, who will talk about the errors made and the different victims involved.
